El horror que hemos vivido estos días y el que cientos de miles viven en Sufis e Irak diariamente, y lo raro que es todo, me han llevado a pensar en este post. Se trata de reunir links a fuentes de información sobre el conflicto en Oruente Medio.
Head to head
Este es una edición de Head to Head en Al Jazeera en ingles, una estupenda cadena en la que se puede ver al jodido Frost, el de Frost vs Nixon. Fuera de España se hace una televisión que se sale del planeta. No esta subtitulado pero merece la pena oír la entrevista a Michael Flinn, ex jefe de Inteligencia. Asombroso como el comentarista le cita informes de su agencia en los que anunciaba la llegada de Isil y el responde que lo que no entiende es la falta de respuesta de los políticos ante esos informes . Asombroso .
En fin, si encontráis programas, entrevistas y documentales interesantes sobre el tema os invito a ponerlo por aquí . Así ahorraremos tiempo en la búsqueda. |

Esta en español. Una línea de pensamiento que empiezo a ver por ahí, en los ambientes del negocio del petroleo donde se desarrolla parte de mi trabajo.

No conozco esta fuente, puntualizo. No tengo opinión formada sobre Puebla 3.0.
Pero sí he leído sobre Al-Jazeera.

Eso nos hace falta para saber quién es quién. Ay, qué buen curso COU con sus comentarios de textos periodísticos. Uso más lo que aprendí entonces que la mayoría de las asignturas que estudié en mi carrera. |

Patrick Cockburn - The Rise of Islamic State (22 de marzo de 2015).
Una entrevista/debate en V.O. con Cockburn, cuyo libro se publicó en castellano a principios de año.

Out of the failures of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Arab Spring and Syria, a new threat emerges. While Al Qaeda is weakened, new jihadi movements, especially ISIS, are starting to emerge. The capture of Mosul on June 10, 2014 and the declaration of the caliphate spanning the Iraqi–Syrian border, show that these movements are a new serious territorial power, that cannot be ignored.
Patrick Cockburn is the journalist who was aware of the rise of these movements, while many signs were being missed by Western politicians, the media, and the public. In his latest book, he describes the rise of the jihadi movements.
When he started writing this book he particularly wanted to trace the swift rise of ISIS, the growing anger of the Sunni community in Iraq, and the government ’s inability to combat a powerful new insurgency. With that, he wanted to stress that the armed opposition in Syria was now dominated by jihadi movements while the moderates, whom the West is seeking to boost, have little influence on the ground. His expectations, formulated in the book, turned soon out to be true.
During the program Patrick Cockburn will talk about the meaning of these growing powers and analyze how things could have gone so terribly wrong. He speaks about the reasons for the unfolding of US and the West’s greatest foreign policy debacle and the impact that it has on the war-torn and volatile Middle East. Patrick Cockburn will discuss these topics with war correspondent Arnold Karskens, who reported from Afganistan and Irak amongst many other countries and who won the prize ‘Journalist voor de Vrede’ (journalist for peace) in 2008. |

| Recomendable libro, el de Cockburn. Breve, ágil, bien informado. Va directo al grano y se lee de un tirón. Encima barato. O sea que es una buena opción para hacerse una idea de lo que hay. |
