Tengo un estupendísimo recuerdo de esta novela. Y tengo esa misma edición, con su marcapáginas y su postal.

Hoy ha empezado la feria de libro antiguo y de ocasión de otoño en Madrid. Me he pasado esta tarde pero me he ido de vacío, lo poco interesante que he encontrado no me cuadraba de precio .

Aunque lo leí en digital (y el libro pachín pachán), ayer lo vi nuevecito por 3€ en un ReRead barcelonés... y me lo llevé: The Eagle and the Lion. Rome, Persia and an Unwinnable Conflict, de Adrian Goldsworthy (Apollo [Head of Zeus], 2023):

The Eagle and the Lion is a story of the imperial rivalry between two of the greatest empires of the ancient world – how they rose and eventually fell.
The Roman empire shaped the culture of the western world against which all other great powers are compared. Stretching from the north of Britain to the Sahara, and from the Atlantic coast to the Euphrates, it imposed peace and prosperity on an unprecedented scale. However, the exception lay in the east, where the Parthian and then Persian empires ruled over great cities and the trade routes to mysterious lands beyond.
