Leo Los magos románticos, de Paul Bénichou (FCE, 2017). Último volumen de una prestigiosa tríada sobre el romanticismo literario francés.
Los otros dos son El tiempo de los profetas y La coronación del escritor, que leí años atrás. Estudios un poco densos y de los que se obtiene mejor provecho cuando se conoce bien el material, cosa difícil para quien desconoce el francés, como es mi caso, pero sospecho que ni siquiera los lectores franceses de hoy suelen frecuentar esos pastos, a estas alturas un tanto marchitos. La salvedad es que este tercer libro se centra en tres autores que conservan un grado de actualidad: Lamartine, Alfred de Vigny y Victor Hugo. |

| Using the evidence of archaeology, poetry, legal texts and annals, this volume investigates the social, economic and symbolic structures of early Scandinavia at the time of the Viking expansion. The contributors provide an outline ethnograpjy, covering dwellings and settlements, kinship and social relations, law, political structures and external relations, rural and urban economies, and the ideology of warfare. The topics are discussed through case-studies from the contributors' recent research, illustrating the changing scholarly interpretations of this formative period in Scandinavian history. Y está especialmente chachi porque han transcrito las charlas posteriores entre los especialistas ( risas incluidas), y se siente como estar ahí, entre los mejores, hablando distendidamente del asunto. Y dejan caer cosillas, así, como quien no quiere la cosa, que te llevan a buscar más sobre el tema.
Con el placer y emoción que me provocan este tipo de lecturas corro el riesgo de no volver a abrir una novela. |

Terminado El telegrama Zimmermann de Barbara Tuchman. Un muy buen libro en el que se nos cuentan los intentos de Alemania por mantener a USA alejada de la IGM mediante el apoyo a los distintos gobiernos mejicanos en esos años de inestabilidad política e incluso mediante el intento de facilitar un cambio de bando de los japoneses y todo con el objeto de crear un conflicto en el patio de atrás estadounidense que les mantuviera ocupados y poder desarrollar con toda la intensidad posible la guerra submarina contra los aliados.

Una vez leída la reseña, puedo decir que estoy totalmente de acuerdo con su contenido. Un estupendo libro. Por cierto, el papel de Wilson en esta crisis me parece penoso.

PD: Yo tengo un buen puñado gracias a "cierto amigo ruso" que me proveía de interesantes volúmenes en pdf hace tiempo desde su web amiga.

Después de haber acabado en los últimos tiempos con las novelas histórico-policiacas de G. Haefs protagonizadas por Bomilkar, el jefe de la guardia de Cartago y con las que tienen como protagonista al orondo investigador Baltasar Matzbach, me pongo ahora con "La primera muerte de Marco Aurelio" del mismo autor.
